EXPOSURE 2025, the 29th Annual Members’ Juried Exhibition sponsored by the Photographic Resource Center (PRC) in Cambridge, MA is designed as a way for viewers to get a deeper sense of an artist’s vision by displaying several of their pieces. This year, juror Conor Moynihan, Associate Curator of Prints, Drawings, and Photographs at the RISD Museum, chose three pieces from each of the twelve photographers he selected from a pool of nearly one hundred.
Although EXPOSURE’s calls for submission are always open-themed, I sometimes feel like an underlying leitmotif jumps out at me. That’s what happened this year and, in a word, it is fragility. In this time of uncertainty, photographers and artists of every ilk have harnessed the gnawing sense of instability and transformed it into highly personal work that can be explosive, bleak, poignant, meditative…and often very beautiful. See if you can follow my sense of this fragility in the sequence of images below, one by each artist.
If you want to experience the intended effect of seeing multiple works by each photographer, the show is worth your visit. EXPOSURE 2025 will be on view through October 4th, 2025 at the VanDernoot Gallery in Lesley University Hall, Cambridge, MA.
