A unique and intriguing group exhibit is opening at the Danforth Art Museum in Framingham on Wednesday, December 9, 2015, featuring the work of three regional women photographers, integrated with artwork in multiple media from the museum’s permanent collections, all pondering the idea of home. “The Memory Palace”, a two-part exhibit curated by the talented Jessica Roscio (https://whatwillyouremember.com/curators-viewpoint-jessica-roscio-danforth-art/), explores domesticity, objects and the interior in ways that re-interpret conventions that date back to the Victorian era, when carefully constructed parlors signaled family status and taste.

Lindsey Beal (feature image), Molly Lamb (above) and Marie Craig (below) mine the spaces between public and private, interior and exterior, by creating new contexts for the way we regard domestic objects. The beauty and symbolism in their work heightens our awareness of the hidden significance in the mundane objects in our homes. A second installation featuring photographer Astrid Reischwitz and painter Leslie Graff opens on December 19, 2015. These artists awaken us to new ways of regarding our surroundings, just in time for the cold winter months ahead.
