Every January, I ask myself what I was thinking when I moved to the Boston region some twenty-five years ago. And every July, I get my answer. If you are fortunate enough to live in the area, you learn that Boston summers mean gorgeous weather, fantastic beaches, an abundance of water sports….and visitors! Family and friends from far and wide naturally convene in the summertime and smart ones know this is the place to meet.
Inevitably, everyone likes to record these reunions. But no matter how many pictures people snap, they confront the stubborn problem of being left out of the shot. Not to mention getting everyone to face the same direction at once. And then there’s all that squinting from the sun.
This is where I come in and it’s probably why I get such frequent requests to photograph summer gatherings. I am delighted to keep reunions fun by making sittings enjoyable and care-free. In what seems like no time (at least to the adults), I create beautifully lit, correctly exposed portraits that express the personality and dynamic of the group. And in most instances, people want to keep going with other combinations. It allows everyone to relax and enjoy each other’s company. What better way could there be to create an unforgettable memory?
