“If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.”
― C.S. Lewis
In B&W photographs of patterned landscapes, stark still-lifes and plaintive portraits, Tony Luong seems to be addressing the way things fit together – or don’t – in his series “In This World” at Carroll and Sons gallery in SoWa through August 22, 2015. Luong takes inventory of an unusual range of local subject matter, which is paralleled by his tonal and contrast variations from print to print within the project. The overarching, meditative cohesiveness derives from Luong’s guileless delivery. The public is invited to an artist’s reception at the gallery on August 7, 2015 from 5:30 – 7:30pm.
