As the holiday season prances in and 2022 slides away, we are delighted to share a selection of our favorite photobooks of the past year. Though the subjects, themes, and presentations vary, all our choices possess unique viewpoints and an emotional presence that have inspired us to see things in a new light. First, we present twelve new monographs. Secondly, we highlight eight retrospective or exhibition catalogs. Lastly, we list the twelve books that we reviewed last year in four themed, comparative articles. All listings are in alphabetical order by author’s last name and include a link in blue to a site where the publication can be purchased, just in case you have gift list with someone special on it.
Our 2022 selection is presented in list form, in a departure from our past brief descriptions of each choice. Nonetheless, as before, we have eagerly and assiduously delved into every book – plus many others – to create this list of our favorites. We hope that you make some delightful discoveries!
